Case of a man accused of knife attack moves forward
HOUGHTON — The case against a Hancock man accused of attacking a woman with a knife took another step forward Monday.
Jeremy Vernon Looper, 41, appeared in Houghton County Circuit Court for a pretrial. Looper is charged with 1st degree home invasion which is a 20 year felony and assault with a deadly weapon which is a four year felony. He is currently being lodged in the Houghton County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond.
Police say Looper entered a Lake Linden woman’s apartment in June and attacked her with a knife. Defense Attorney David Gemignani said that they are in the process of working out a resolution for the case.
Another pretrial will be held in two weeks.
