Suspect in Siphon Bridge accident arraigned
MANISTIQUE — The identity of the driver arrested after an accident that injured two in Manistique on Monday has been released.
Manistique Public Safety Officers say 32-year-old Theresa Magdalene Gorny of Manistique was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in 93rd District Court on one count of operating with a suspended, revoked, or denied license causing serious injury. That charge is punishable by five years imprisonment and up to a $5,000 fine.
Gorny was arrested after police say the eastbound pickup truck she was driving crossed the center line on M-94 near the Siphon Bridge and struck the vehicle of two Illinois residents head-on. The occupants of that vehicle were taken to Schoolcraft County Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Gorny remains lodged in the Schoolcraft County Jail on a $250,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 29th. Additional charges may be forthcoming pending review by the County Prosecutor.
