Crossfit 906 has ribbon cutting for new location
ISHPEMING — If you live in Ishpeming and a regular workout at the gym isn’t enough for you, maybe Crossfit is the way to go.
Today, Crossfit 906 held their grand opening in Ishpeming to try and get more people involved. The gym is located on Lakeshore Drive and it’s the third time they’ve moved in the last five years. This specific location has been open since the beginning of the year and it’s considered to be a community–based fitness program.
The trainers want to assure those interested that their program isn’t as intense as the ones you would see online.
“That’s pretty much the one thing that is a downfall with crossfit, as far as I’m concerned, watching all these people on ESPN because it’s not like that here. You can come in and if you can’t do pull–ups, we can modify ring dips for you. If you can’t do pushups, you go on your knees. So anything can be modified for any type of athlete,” said Shay Korpi, a Level One Crossfit Trainer.
The grand opening ceremony featured live music starting at 7:00 p.m. and going until 11.
Those who signed up by the end of the night, got their on–ramp fee waived and also got their first month free when they signed a one–year contract.
