Season’s Greetings Banner Missing
One of the region’s most heavily-traveled streets is looking a little bit less festive this holiday season.
Washington Street in Marquette has traditionally had a banner hung above it, wishing season’s greetings for anyone driving by.
Negaunee has one of the banners as well.
Theirs is still up, with letters made of a yellow material that appears to shine like gold when it’s lit up.
But Marquette’s is not up this year.
It’s traditionally posted between Mr. Tire and the former Sara Lee bakery.
No one seems to know what happened to the banner.
The Marquette Board of Light and Power owns the utility poles the banner was always hung from.
They told us to ask the Department of Public Works, saying they were responsible for the banner.
The DPW said they didn’t have anything to do with it.
They suggested asking the Marquette Downtown Development Authority.
The DDA said they didn’t know, either, and also suggested contacting the DPW, unaware that we already had.
So if you have any information, let us know!
