Cargo Plane Owners Ignore Court Complaints
The Soviet Union-era cargo plane on the tarmac at Sawyer Airport may be sold.
The plane’s owners haven’t responded in time to legal complaints against them.
Tactical Air Defense Services of West Palm Beach, Florida owns the plane.
A Texas company called Air-1 Flight Support says Tactical Air Defense owes them more than $60,000.
Those are storage, maintenance and fuel costs for the plane since 2007.
Marquette Circuit Judge Thomas Solka will have a default judgment hearing on damages on October 23rd.
It’ll determine how much money Air-1 is actually owed.
Once that’s figured out, the plane will be sold to cover those expenses.
The plane has been grounded since mid-July.
5 crew members, including the pilot, were Ukrainian nationals with expired visas.
They’ve been deported back to Ukraine.
