PUEBLO, Colo. – Senior Bailey Franklin wrapped up the 2012 season on
Saturday (May 26) for the Northern Michigan University outdoor track and
field team with a fifth place finish, becoming an All-American for the
third time, at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships from
Colorado State University at Pueblo. All three Wildcats that participated
in the NCAA Championship are coming home as All-Americans. The ‘Cats
scored 11 team points and were in eighth place after the high jump.
In the high jump, Franklin cleared the bar at 5 feet, 9.25 inches to break
her school record. She tied the mark with Nikki McNorton (3rd) of Tarleton
State and Jennifer Foster (4th) of Ashland but the two cleared heights
with less attempts.
Sophomore Jamie Roberts (pole vault) and redshirt freshman Sherice Hewett (tripe jump) are also outdoor All-Americans after their performances on Friday (May 25). Franklin, Hewett and Roberts were All-Americans in the same events during the indoor season.
Franklin was an indoor triple jump All-American in 2010-11.
