TORONTO — Michigan Tech hockey recruit Jujhar Khaira (Surrey, B.C./Prince George-BCHL) (pronounced Juh-JAR CARE-uh) will be one of 105 players to take part in the NHL Central Scouting Draft Combine at the Toronto International Centre beginning next week. The 6-3 forward signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Michigan Tech last November.
Khaira, who was the highest-ranked player from the British Columbia Hockey League on the final 2012 NHL Central Scouting draft rankings at 74th, tallied 29 goals and 50 assists last season playing for the Prince George Spruce Kings.
The list of combine invitees is made up of 88 North American players and 17 Europeans. There will be 92 skaters and 13 goaltenders.
Players will be put through a battery of tests and interviews from every NHL team. The event, which runs from May 28 through June 2, will consist of both on-ice and off-ice drills.
“It’s a great honor to be invited to the combine,” said Khaira. “I’ve been training really hard to try to make a good impression there, and I’ll keep training all summer.
“I’m really excited to come to Tech to start school and play hockey.”
Khaira is one of seven student-athletes who will join the Michigan Tech hockey roster this fall.
