Two USOEC Wrestlers win Gold

MARQUETTE, Mich. – Two U.S. Olympic Education Center freestyle wrestlers took top honors yesterday at the Body Bar Women’s National Championships in Lakeland, Fla.
Erin Golston of Lake in the Hills, Ill., and Jenna Burkert of Rocky Point, N.Y., wrestled their way to gold in the 44-kilogram and 59-kg weight classes, respectively.
In the championship match, Golston wrestled Emily Webster of Gator Wrestling Club. Golston outscored Webster in a best of three match series. She won the first match 2-1, 3-0 and closed out the series with a 1-3, 2-0, 3-1 victory in the second match.
Burkert also won her series in two straight matches, stopping Rachael Shannon of Lindenwood Wrestling Club in the finals series. She took the first bout 1-0, 3-1 and won the second match 2-2, 1-0, 3-0.
The USOEC wrestlers’ victories advanced them to compete at the Junior World Championships in September in Pattaya, Thailand.
