NMU Golf Team finishes 11th at Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio. – The Northern Michigan University golf team finished in 11th place at the Ashland Invitational from the Country Club of Ashland over the weekend. The Wildcats shot a team combined score of 650.
Sophomore Mike Murphy led the team in a tie 17th place with a ten-over par, 154. He opened the weekend with an 83 on Saturday (April 21) and bounced back with a one-under 71 on Sunday (April 22). Murphy led all golfers on the weekend with eight birdies.
Sophomore Jared Reid (85-78) and freshman Ayrton Mantha (86-77) tied for 55th at 163. Reid had six birdies on the weekend.
Freshman Colten Thewis (83-87) was 10 shots back in 74th. Junior Adam Huss (180) was the final Northern golfer.
The University of Findlay won the tournament with a 598 and Oiler Michael Schmitmeyer was the low medalist with a 144.
The ‘Cats travel back to Ohio next weekend (April 27-28) to wrap up the season at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Preview.
