USOEC Speedskaters successful at American Cup

MARQUETTE, Mich.- Three U.S. Olympic Education Center short-track
speedskaters have captured top 10 rankings in their respective American Cup divisions following their performances at last weekend’s (Feb. 18-19) 2012 American Cup III in Champaign, Ill.
Chelsea Creveling (Frenchtown, N.J.) is the leader in overall points
for the Group 2 Ladies Division. At the America Cup event, the Northern Michigan University junior won the 1500 meter, 1000m and 1500m superfinal and was fourth in the 500m for an event total of 3,512 points.
Sophomore Sara Burg (Alpena, Mich.) is third in the Ladies Division after finishing third in the 1500m, 500m and 1500m superfinal for 2,330 points.
Junior Chris Creveling (Kintersville, Pa.) owns third place in the Men’s
Division rankings. At this year’s third America Cup event, he garnered 3,040 points with second-place finishes in the 1500m, 500m, and 1500m superfinal.
Also at the competition, senior Barry Winslow (Midland, Mich.)
placed first in the men’s 1,000m race with a winning time of 1:36.550. He was fourth in the event’s overall standings (1,988 points).
Freshman Brett Perry (Midland, Mich.) won the B final for the 1500m and 1500m superfinal, with winning times of 2:26.476 and 2:28.166, respectively.
Sophomore Alaina Fiorenza (Wausau, Wis.) came in sixth overall
(1,988). and senior Kelsey Schiel (Midland, Mich.), seventh (1,052).
Freshman Lauren Ziegelmayer also competed.
