Marquette man arrested for leaving 2-year-old unattended
A Marquette man who left his 2-year-old son unattended for an extended of time has been charged with Child Abuse in the 4th degree.
Police arrested 24-year-old David Andrew Halverson on January 17th following an investigation into an incident in which his 2-year-old was reportedly seen running barefoot around an apartment building in Whetstone Village with only a diaper on. Two of Halverson’s neighbors were able to catch the child and bring him back inside out of the cold. The neighbors contacted the police after they were unable to find the child’s parents.
Upon investigating, Marquette Police discovered that Halverson had allegedly left his son unsupervised for an extended amount of time while he went to the Superior Dome to practice Ultimate Frisbee.
Halverson is charged with Child Abuse in the 4th degree – a one year misdemeanor. He waived his arraignment on January 21st, but will be back in court on February 6th for a pretrial hearing. Halverson is currently out of jail on bond.
