UPDATE: man dies in Dickinson Co. well
Police in Dickinson County have identified the Illinois man who died Wednesday while repairing a well. Michigan State Police from the Iron Mountain Post say he is 77-year-old James Ennis of Orland Park, Illinois.
Ennis Climbed into a 12 foot-deep well in Waucedah Township Wednesday afternoon to repair it.
Police say a friend lowered dry ice into the well. The dry ice reacted and removed the oxygen from the bottom of the well. Ennis lost consciousness while trying to climb out.
Rescue personnel removed him from the well and gave him CPR but he could not be revived.
