Wildcats ‘D’ ready for football season
NMU head football coach Chris Ostrowsky is well known for the fast paced, up tempo offense he runs. Now Coach Ostrowsky’s defense is starting to play with the same kind of speed an tempo on their side of the football.
The Wildcats ‘D’ will still be a primarily young unit this fall. NMU graduated their top tacklers from a year ago. But from what they showed all spring long, the new guys in the fold haven’t missed a beat.
With more experience in the secondary this year, that will allow the ‘Cats to possibly send an extra rusher or two at the quarterback. Defensive Coordinator Brian Newberry has preached getting all eleven players to the ball as quickly as possible, and the players have responded to that.
NMU will add at least thirteen freshman to the defensive side of the football in August, when the 2013 season begins.
