Celebrity Art Auction Raises $13,000
U.P. celebrities used their artistic talents Thursday night to raise money for the U.P. Children’s Museum, and it was a smashing success.
The museum’s ninth annual Celebrity Art Auction took place last night.
Children’s Museum executive director Nheena Weyer Ittner says the auction raised just over $13,000, right around last year’s total.
More than 30 Marquette-area residents made items or offered their own talents or services up for bid.
Our own news director, Cynthia Thompson, was one of the celebrity artists.
Her hand–painted mirror fetched $180.
The auction usually draws about 200 people to the museum, and at least that many appeared to be on hand last night.
