'Santaland Diaries' at NMU

Northern Michigan University’s Forest Roberts Theatre is hosting a one–man show that should provide plenty of mature laughs related to the holidays.

‘Santaland Diaries’ is based on an essay of the same name by New York Times best–selling humor writer David Sedaris.

The production is NMU student Jacob Barbot’s capstone project as a theater major before he graduates next spring.

But don’t let the Christmas setting fool you; ‘Santaland Diaries’ has much more in common with the movie ‘Bad Santa’ than it does with ‘Miracle on 34th Street’.

Barbot says ‘Santaland Diaries’ depicts Sedaris’s time working as a department-store elf at Macy’s in New York.

He says the performance is for mature audiences only, and he’s asking you to leave your young kids at home if you go to the show.

Tickets are $5 per person for both NMU students and the general public.

Showtimes are at 7:30 and 11 tonight, and 11 tomorrow night, at the Black Box Theater.
