NMU's Lopes, Harley named to GLIAC 1st team

BAY CITY, Mich. – Juniors Lina Lopes and Kellisha Harley, of the Northern Michigan University volleyball team, were selected to the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team. Junior Kalli Herron was an Honorable Mention choice.
Lopes, a left-side hitter from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, led the NMU offense with 379 kills, finishing ninth in the GLIAC with a 3.06 average per set. She appeared in all 32 matches and in 124 sets and also had 45 service aces and was second on the team with 312 digs. Lopes was GLIAC Honorable Mention selection in 2011 and the GLIAC Freshman of the Year in 2010.
Harley, a setter from Lakewood, Colo., setup the offense with 1,290 assists, leading the GLIAC and finishing 10th in school history. She appeared in all 32 matches and 126 sets, averaging 10.29 assist per set to finish second in the GLIAC in her first season in the Green and Gold.
Herron, a left-side hitter from Peru, Ill., was second on the team with 360 kills, averaging 2.93 per set. She was also second on the team with 83 total blocks.
The Wildcats finished 20-12 on the season and fifth in the GLIAC with a 12-6 record.
