Man arrested on embezzlement charges

Deputies from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 34-year-old Alpha man on an 8 count felony warrant that had been authorized by Iron County Prosecutor Melissa Powell.

Following a two and one half month investigation, Sheriff’s deputies determined that between March 2012 and August 2012 the suspect, through forgery and uttering and publishing, embezzled money from the Village of Alpha while he was employed as the Alpha Village Clerk.

The suspect was released on a $25,000 personal recognizance bond with an order to appear for arraignment on Tuesday November 13th. The suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment in the 95B District Court.
