Honor Flight Michigan Film
Members of the greatest generation, and their loved ones, learned tonight about a volunteer effort to honor their sacrifices in World War II.
U.P. Honor Flight presented the documentary film “Honor Flight Michigan” at the Peter White Public Library.
It was made by two downstate filmmakers about a journey of Lower Peninsula World War II veterans to Washington D.C.
Local veterans can make the same trip.
U.P. Honor Flight volunteer Paula Waeghe says the group is trying to get area veterans interested in their next flight, which still has openings.
That trip will take place next spring.
It involves a charter flight from the Delta County Airport in Escanaba to Washington, D.C. for a whirlwind one–day tour of the nation’s capital, highlighted by a visit to the World War II National Memorial.
The total cost of the trip is roughly $85,000, but veterans do not pay a cent.
