Board Finalizes David Haynes as NMU President
After a long and heated discussion this morning, the Northern Michigan University board of trustees have finally made a decision on the contract for the school’s new interim president.
The contract for David Haynes was approved by the board after a 6 to 2 vote, making Haynes NMU’s 14th president.
The agreement is for three years.
The process by which Haynes was placed into his position caused some controversy among board members.
Questions have also been raised about a potential conflict regarding Haynes’ affiliation with Steelcase, incorporated.
And, the selection of the new president caused tension among board members today.
A majority of the board members says they’re happy with today’s decision.
They will begin a formal search for a permanent president at the end of the 2012–2013 school year.
