Great Lakes Lighthouse Tours

Passenger cruise ships are a more common sight at Marquette’s Lower Harbor this summer than they were last year.
And a different kind of cruise ship has docked there twice this week.

About 50 members of the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association left Marquette this morning on a cruise.
The group runs several dozen cruises a year.
The cruises raise money to preserve and restore Great Lakes lighthouses.

That includes Stannard Rock, 44 miles north of Marquette.
The U.S. General Services Administration is giving it away for free, with strings attached.
But there may not be any takers.
The Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association is based in Mackinaw City.
