First Responder Safety Training
Fire crews, EMS workers and other first responders from across Marquette County took part in a special training seminar this morning.
First responders learned from the Grand Rapids-based organization “2 The Rescue”.
The group got lessons in proper emergency vehicle driving, and how to get to incidents safely.
One of the biggest hazards to first responders is accidents due to lack of awareness or being in too much of a hurry — 2 The Rescue risk control consultant Allen Smolen says driving an emergency vehicle is the number-one safety hazard that emergency personnel face.
Similar sessions will take place tonight and again tomorrow in Escanaba.
