Ishpeming Fire Department gets Grant
The City of Ishpeming Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded a competitive grant through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The Ishpeming Volunteer Fire Department will receive $23,400 .
The Assistance for Firefighters Grant Program is administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.
The City of Ishpeming Volunteer Fire Department will be receiving funds through the AFGs Operations and Safety Program, which provides assistance for fire departments. The Ishpeming Volunteer Fire Department will be receiving funds to replace a 14 year old thermal imaging camera, upgrading one of the fire trucks deck monitors to a remotely controlled deck monitor and funding for two portable ground monitors.
The primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations. Since 2001, AFG has helped firefighters and other first responders to obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, wellness and fitness, health and safety modifications to stations and facilities and other resources needed to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.
