M-64 Open again in Ontonagon County

MDOT and the Ontonagon County Road Commission have completed emergency repairs of M–64 north of Bergland, and the highway is open.

MDOT says motorists should use caution in the area, as the repaired portion of the roadway has a temporary gravel surface. The roadway will be paved as soon as hot mix asphalt is available for the season.

MDOT closed the highway to through traffic Monday afternoon between Bergland and Silver City in Ontonagon County as the roadway was compromised by rising water. A beaver dam blocked a culvert beneath the highway, and a portion of the roadway was washed out before the blockage could be removed.
