Marquette Downtown Development Authority to resume paid parking

MARQUETTE — Starting on Monday, June 15th, enforcement of paid parking will resume on meters and pay stations in downtown Marquette.

The parking rate will be 50 cents per hour and can be paid through the touch-less mobile pay app, card, or coin.

The MDDA and the City of Marquette suspended paid parking in support of downtown customers, businesses, and residents during the COVID–19 pandemic.

“All of the revenue that we receive through those means, so through the parking meter, the pay stations, the rental permit parking, all of those revenues are directly re–invested into our Downtown parking system,” said Rebecca Salmon, Executive Director of the Marquette Downtown Development Authority. “In order to continue to provide those services, to keep Downtown parking safe, to keep it accessible, and to keep those facilities in good repair, we are having to start that up again at this time.”

Parking payments will be enforced Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., and quarterly charges for daily and overnight rental permit parking will go into effect on July 1st.
