Robin “Rob” James Rubick

ISHPEMING –Robin James Rubick was born on September 27th, 1960, in Newberry, Michigan.

Rubick was initially a walk–on at Grand Valley State University, but became the starting tight end during his freshman year. He later went on to become the Laker career reception leader after catching 80 passes for 1455 yards and 6 touchdowns. Rubick was then inducted in the Grand Valley State Hall of Fame in 1991.

After college, Rubick was picked in the 12th round of the 1981 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions. He played for seven seasons with the Lions, appearing in 88 games with 4 touchdowns on 44 receptions and 1 carry.

After his football career, Rubick was sports broadcaster for multiple platforms and a color commentator Eastern Michigan University football.

He later went back to school to receive his masters and currently teaches at Zemmer Middle School in Lapeer, Michigan.
