2020 Teal Lake Meltdown fundraiser begins
NEGAUNEE — Tickets are now on sale for the 2020 Teal Lake Melt–Down fundraiser.
This is a fundraiser ran by the Negaunee Lions Club and Greater Ishpeming– Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce. It’s where participants can buy a ticket and guess the exact time the mining head frame structure would fall through the ice on Teal Lake.
“The uniqueness of it is that it’s something people can watch the year and scratch their head at when is spring going to come,” said Bob Hendrickson, Director for the Greater Ishpeming–Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce. “Sometimes it takes a while here. The last two years it’s been in April. Last year, it was a little bit later April.”
“It’s a lot of fun to challenge your friends and neighbors to find out when that structure will fall through the ice,” said Neil Lynch, Member of the Negaunee’s Lion’s Club and one of the Co–Chairs of the Teal Lake Meltdown.
Tickets will be on sale until April 1st, 2020 and the winner will receive 50% of the net ticket proceeds or $500. Last year had over 600 participants and the winner won $1508. The winning ticket has to be purchased and submitted at least two days before the head frame sinks.
To purchase and submit tickets, you can visit the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce, which is located at 910 U.S highway 41 West in Ishpeming , MI.
