NMU throws “Welcome Home Party” to bring in new year
MARQUETTE — As the fall semester of college nears, meeting new people can always be a challenge.
In order to remedy that, Northern Michigan University threw a party to welcome students home.
Upperclassmen and underclassmen alike gathered at the academic mall earlier tonight, for food, games, and live music, all to bring in the new school year the right way.
“It’s an outstanding way for students to get to know each other from people that live down the hall, to people that live across campus,” said Jeff Korpi, Director of Housing & Residence Life at NMU. “That’s what it’s all about for us, just getting people connected and getting to know people from all sorts of backgrounds.”
Domino’s Pizza and Simply Superior provided the food, while Double Trouble DJ’s emceed and provided the music backdrop.
This is the third year that NMU Housing has put this party on, and it is growing substantially every year.
NMU’s semester begins this coming Monday, August 26th.
