Gladstone athlete signs with St. Norbert College
GLADSTONE — It’s always an important day in a young athletes life when they decide to take their talents to the collegiate level and continue to do what they love, and today one local athlete did just that.
Gladstone’s James McKnight just signed with St. Norbert College to extend his track and field career at the next level. McKnight will be joining the Green Knights after competing in the 110 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, and the high jump throughout his high school career.
For McKnight, he is excited to continue to get better in college, but said he will miss his teammates and coaches at Gladstone.
“I’m going to miss a lot from my old team, I’m going to miss my coaches. I love my coaches. I remember our first day, our first practice, we were in the gym and I didn’t even know I was going to be running hurdles as a freshman, and I ran in and Mas looked at me and pointed and said ‘you’re a hurdler.’ So I started right there, and I’m going to miss that. I love high school track and that’s what I’m going to miss the most about it.”
McKnight plans to study biology at St. Norbert, and we wish him the best of luck in the classroom and on the track.
