Fatal car accident in St. Ignace
ST. IGNACE — A Marquette area man is dead after a traffic crash in St. Ignace. It happened just after noon Friday on North State Street near Airport Road.
St. Ignace Police say a car driven by an 18-year-old Marquette man, along with two Marquette area passengers ages 22 and 16, pulled out of a business driveway. Their car collided with a pickup truck driven by a 28-year-old St. Ignace woman.
The 22-year-old Marquette area man, who was a front seat passenger, was killed in the crash. The 18-year-old driver is in critical condition at a hospital in Petoskey.
The 16-year-old passenger is in serious condition. The woman driving the pickup truck was treated and released. Police say the roads and weather along with speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident. All front seat passengers were wearing safety belts.
The crash remains under investigation and names are not being released until family members have been notified.
