Bliss named WCHA Rookie of the Week
BLOOMINGTON – Michigan Tech forward Trenton Bliss has been named the WCHA Rookie of the Week the league announced on Monday (Dec. 10). Bliss tied for the NCAA freshman lead with two goals last weekend and tied for the WCHA rookie scoring lead with three points
Bliss, a native of Appleton, Wisconsin, scored a power-play goal each night in a WCHA split with Northern Michigan. He tallied three points in the series—all on the power play. Bliss scored late in the third period on Friday in Marquette and had a goal and an assist Saturday. He scored Tech’s third goal in the second game and had the primary assist on Seamus Donohue’s first-period tally that put the Huskies up 1-0.
Bliss is third in the WCHA in goals amongst rookies with four. Three of his four tallies have been on the power play to lead league freshmen. He is currently on a three-game point streak with two goals and two assists. Bliss is third on the Huskies with 10 points which ranks fifth amongst WCHA rookies.
The Huskies are 9-6-1 overall and 8-1-1-1 in the WCHA and received votes in this week’s USCHO Poll. Tech remains at home this weekend, hosting Alabama Huntsville. Friday is Vollwerth’s Family Night and Saturday is Keweenaw Chevrolet’s Jam the Stands Night. The puck will drop at 7:07 p.m. in the second meeting between the two teams.
