Boat crashes into dock on Portage Lake, teen rescued
HOUGHTON — On Thursday, the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office Marine Division, Michigan State Police Troopers, and U.S. Coast Guard Station Portage were dispatched to Portage Lake near Bootjack Road for an unoccupied boat that had crashed into a dock.
It was determined that a 15-year-old male was fishing, and had fallen off of the boat while under power in the lake. The 15-year-old was in the water for approximately 25 minutes before being located by a boat passing by, and transported to shore.
The teenager was uninjured in the incident.
