Motorcycle vs. deer accident sends one to hospital

SAGOLA TOWNSHIP — Michigan State Police troopers responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and a deer near M-95 in Sagola Township.

It happened at 10:09 a.m. Monday on East M-69 in Dickinson County. 74-year-old Phillip Curtis of Williamsburg, Michigan was driving the motorcycle. Investigators say a deer ran out in front of him.

When the motorcycle hit the deer, Curtis lost control, struck a mailbox and came to rest in the ditch of M-69. He was taken to Dickinson County Healthcare System where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
