Police discover meth components while responding to domestic violence report

GWINN — Police discovered meth components at a residence in Gwinn Friday morning while responding to a report of domestic violence.

At 7:45 a.m., deputies from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 553 Mobile Estates on a report of a domestic violence incident. When officers arrived to the scene, they were met at the door by the property owner.

Officers told the man why they were there and the man stated that he was home alone, so there could not be any issues. Upon searching the residence, deputies located components for manufacturing methamphetamine.

Deputies cleared the trailer and contacted detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team to come to the scene. UPSET detectives responded to the scene to remove the hazardous components from the trailer.

The man was arrested and lodged at the Marquette County Jail on unrelated charges. Sands Township Fire Department, Sands Township EMS and the Marquette County Rescue Unit 131 also assisted on the scene.
