MARQUETTE — The Marquette Area Public Schools held their 4th annual chili cook-off on Tuesday night at Marquette Senior High School.

Members of the public were able to sample 4 different chili’s created for this event, one from each elementary school’s parent teacher association. A vote was then held for everyone’s favorite chili while people enjoyed the basket raffles, music, and games.

The event is a fundraiser for all 5th graders at MAPS elementary school to help pay for the students to attend the annual Outdoor Education Camp held at Bay Cliff in Big Bay.

“I was a fifth grader that went to Bay Cliff and it’s one of those things that you always remember going to,” said cook-off organizer, Kristen Cambensy. “It’s the first time that all of the fifth grades are all together doing some different, fun activities – then they go off to middle school. It’s kind of a good starting point to lead them into a successful middle school career.”

Chili Sponsors for this year’s cook-off included the Delft Bistro, Simply Superior Catering, Border Grill, and Econo Foods.
