MDOT closes road for emergency repairs
CHIPPEWA COUNTY — The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is closing and detouring M-123 over Black Creek south of Paradise in Chippewa County for emergency repairs.
MDOT is installing a 20-foot wide concrete box culvert at the location. Because of the potential for pavement failure before the new culvert can be installed, MDOT decided to act out of an abundance of caution and close the roadway until emergency repairs can be made.
The roadway is expected to be closed and detoured for several hours and will be reopened as soon as possible. Westbound through-traffic will be detoured via M-28 to Newberry and north on M-123. Eastbound traffic can take M-123 north at Newberry.
More information will follow as soon as it is available. A project map can be found here: http://bit.ly/2pdFHzG
