Man arrested after stabbing another man in the neck

ESCANABA — A 33-year-old Escanaba man is behind bars after police say he stabbed another man in the neck Monday afternoon.

According to Escanaba Public Safety, the stabbing occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m. on the 800 block of 2nd Avenue South. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 26-year-old Escanaba man had sustained a cut to his throat approximately three to four inches in length.

The injury was superficial in nature. He was treated at the scene by Rampart EMS.

The suspect fled the scene of the stabbing and was arrested at a nearby residence. Officers also recovered the knife they believe was used in the stabbing.

The suspect was taken to OSF St. Francis Hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained in the incident. Upon his release from the hospital, he was arrested on charges of felonious assault, aggravated assault, and possession of a controlled substance.

The suspect’s identity won’t be released until he’s arraigned in Delta County District Court.
