MARQUETTE — The man who admitted to authorities he sexually assaulted and held a woman against her will has been arraigned in U.S. District Court.

According to court documents, Eric Scott Ruska, 37, stood mute during his arraignment Wednesday afternoon. He was formally charged with one felony count of kidnapping, a crime that is punishable by up to life in prison and/or a $250,000 fine.

Ruska was arrested last week after he held LeeAnn Wilmoth, 28, in his custody for several days around the Hiawatha National Forest area. The Michigan State Police arrested him July 14th at the Shell Gas Station in Munising.

Ruska is due back in court for a pretrial conference on August 14th. A jury trial date has been set for October 24th.
