After numerous hours of searching, following up on tips from the public, reviewing video footage, and the lack of a missing person report filed, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office been unable to substantiate that an abduction occurred.

On Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report that there had been an apparent abduction of a female on the corner of Venture Drive and Wright Street in Marquette Township. Officials are continuing to follow up on the case, but believe the witness could have possibly misinterpreted what he saw.

The incident remains under investigation and the Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public for their vigilance in spreading the word and providing helpful information. Assisting on the scene was the Marquette County Special Operations/K-9 Unit, Search and Rescue, and Marquette Township Fire.


UPDATE — Thursday, July 20th, 2017 10:00 a.m.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office has released more information concerning their investigation into a possible abduction.

The alleged abduction occurred on Venture Drive and Wright Street near North Star Academy in Marquette Township around 3:30 p.m. An eyewitness tells police he believes he saw two men force a woman into a car.

Police say the possibly abducted woman is white, 20-25 years-old, around 5’7″, 150-160 lbs., with dirty blonde hair just past her shoulders and bright blue nail polish. She is said to be wearing a white tank top with a black design on the back, blue colored jean shorts and blue sneakers.

The car believed to be involved in the abduction is an early to middle 2000’s Ford Sedan, possibly a dark blue Taurus. The car has a standard grey colored rim on the front driver’s side and possibly a spare “donut” style tie in the back. The vehicle is said to be in decent condition.

Male suspect #1 is said to a white or Native American man in his 30’s. He’s 6’0″ to 6’2″, with a fit build, short black hair with a buzz cut all the way around. He was wearing a black hoodie with sleeves removed, blue denim shorts and white sneakers.

Male suspect #2 is a believed to be a white man in his 30’s with dark brown shaggy hair past his ears.

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP–The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating an alleged abduction on Venture Street near Wright Street, in Marquette Township.

According to an eye witness who called 911 at approximately 3:30 p.m., he saw two male occupants in their mid-thirties force a female into their car. The vehicle is described as a mid-2000, dark blue, Ford Taurus, four door passenger car having a spare style tire on the rear driver’s side.

The female is described as having shoulder length dirty blonde hair, and she was wearing a white tank top with a black logo on the back. The female was also wearing blue jean style shorts and blue shoes.

The two alleged male suspects are described as (1) having a black hooded sweatshirt with cut off sleeves, and (2) having long brown shaggy hair with white tennis shoes. Anyone with any information is asked to call their local police agency or dial 911.
