Fundraiser focused on raising awareness of homelessness

MARQUETTE — The Room at the Inn will be holding its first annual ‘Home Run’ fundraiser, with all proceeds going back to help homeless individuals in the community.

This event will be an amazing race style fundraiser that will include clues to solve and unique tasks to complete in order to earn points. These activities will include both mental and physical challenges.

Although the event will be raising money for people in their time of transition, the sole purpose is to raise awareness on an issue that is plaguing not only the community, but the nation as a whole.

“The whole point of the evening is not just the raising of the money but we’re also trying to raise awareness. Each of the bases that we have set up around the city and township, there’s going to be a component to each base that will have something to do with learning more about homelessness,” said Room at the Inn Executive Director, Douglas Russell.

The last week of July is the national housing week of action. Any four person team can sign up for the fundraiser, which can be done on the organization’s website by clicking here. The event will be held on July 26th at Marquette Mountain, even if you aren’t interested in participating in the home run, live music and food will also be available.
