Coder Dojo 906 gives local students the chance to learn about coding
MARQUETTE — A U.P. initiative that is part of a global program focused on bringing coding and technology experiences to students in the area is back for a third year.
Coder Dojo 906 is a program that teaches everything from basic visual coding to 3-D printing. This organization explores building skills in code with hands on teaching methods.
Children between the ages of five and seventeen are invited to participate.
“Coder Dojo is a volunteer lead coding club for kids. It’s a computer science and coding club that is based on discovery learning,’ said Coder Dojo 906 Coordinator, Keith Glendon. “It’s hands on, learning how to do things with computers and learning how to code in a guided but not scripted environment.”
“I really like Coder Dojo because there’s so many new people you can meet. I really want to be a scientist, not like all the organisms kind, but I really like making things go ‘boom,'” said Coder Dojo 906 Participant, Nheena Fastbender.
With today being National Pi Day, all the activities were based around the mathematical constant.
