Bakery celebrates milestone anniversary
NEGAUNEE — It’s one of the most popular places in Negaunee. In fact, you can find it right in the middle of town.
Midtown Bakery & Cafe is celebrating 20 years in business this year. Owner Marybeth Kurtz moved to Negaunee twenty years ago to open up her business, which serves baked goods, soups and sandwiches.
When asked what’s kept her in business the last twenty years, Kurtz says it’s most definitely her customers and the Negaunee community.
“I was hoping I would make it a year, so 20 years has been amazing,” she said. “I’m not from the area. I’m originally from the Metro Detroit area, so to move here and have people accept me the way they have and support my business, not only the customers but also the local business people has been amazing.”
Marybeth says the ‘Almost World Famous Cheesecake’ is one of her customer’s favorite things to buy.
