Man receives jail time for firearms possession

CRYSTAL FALLS — A Crystal Falls man accused of trying to bring down a structure with explosives will spend the next few months behind bars.

Brent Ellis, 59, received nine months in jail with credit for two days served after pleading guilty to firearms possession by a felon in June.

Police arrested Ellis last August after he attempted to take down a building in Mastodon Township using a large amount of tannerite and fireworks.

A third degree arson charge was dropped as part of a plea agreement Ellis made two months ago.
