MILTON, FL — The man who escaped police custody three times in the last fourteen months entered a not guilty plea in court Thursday.

John Saatio, 35, is charged with escape in the third degree and possession of a concealed handcuff key. He pleaded not guilty to both of those charges in Santa Rosa County (Florida).

Saatio escaped from a prison transport van in Florida on July 2nd. He allegedly escaped the van using a makeshift key to undo his cuffs and belly chain.

Authorities captured him the next day.

Saatio has also escaped police custody in Puerto Rico and Houghton County. He’s wanted out of Houghton County on various felony charges.

Saatio is due back in Santa Rosa County Court on September 21st. There’s no word yet on when Saatio will be extradited to Michigan.
