UPDATE: Man arrested for armed kidnapping

A man arrested in connection to a kidnapping incident out of Chippewa County over the weekend was arraigned today in district court.
Forty-six year old Michael Millette is charged with one count of kidnapping, two counts of assault with intent to murder and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon. Police say Millette forced a woman into his car after confronting the woman and her husband at gunpoint on 15 Mile Road in Barbeau just after 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Deputies with the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office located Millette’s vehicle on Mackinac Trail near Rudyard and arrested him. Millette is expected back in court August 15th for a preliminary exam.
CHIPPEWA COUNTY — An arrest has been made in connection to a kidnapping incident out of Chippewa County.
Deputies from the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department say they responded to a call at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday regarding an armed kidnapping on 15 Mile Road in Barbeau.
Reports indicate that the suspect forced a woman into his car after she and her husband were confronted at gunpoint.
Deputies located the vehicle traveling southbound on Mackinac Trail near Rudyard.
The hostage was not hurt and the suspect was arrested on various charges including two counts of kidnapping and two counts of felonious assault. He is set to be arraigned in Chippewa County District Court on Monday.
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Sault Tribe PD, U.S. Border Patrol and the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office.
