Escanaba punches ticket to LLSB World Series
ELGIN, Ill. — The Escanaba Big League softball team are heading back to the World Series.
The Esky girls knocked off Melrose Park Illinois in the semi–finals on Sunday and after a very long rain delay, they dominated the vaunted Indiana District 11 All–Stars 14–0 in the central regional championship. Head coach Jamie Segorski says the team’s confidence was high even before the tournament began.
“I think the mindset was that the girls felt that they were the best team there. A lot of hit just had to with our bats getting hot at the right time. We came into the tournament hitting the ball well and it just carried over into the championship game,” said Segorski.
This will be the third trip in the last four years for Katie Ross and Taylor Segorski, but the team is stacked with experience.
“For the most part, it’s all of their second trips to one of the Little League World Series. This group has had a whole bunch of success in the Little League tournament series. They’re excited to go back. They feel like they can perform really well on that stage,” Segorski said.
The girls will be in Roxana, Delaware for the World Series, which begins this upcoming weekend.
