Eight months after fatal incident, Linklater pleads no contest

CHIPPEWA COUNTY — Mackinac Trail was the site of a tragedy in mid December – a head–on traffic collision that claimed the life of one 19-year-old Brimley man. In the other vechicle, a Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native charged with operating while intoxicated.

Tonight, almost eight months later, there is an update on that story.

Stacy Linklater, 23, has pleaded no contest to an OWI causing death charge. This was over an incident that occurred on December 11th. That night, troopers were called to a traffic crash scene on Mackinac Trail south of 3 Mile Road.

Jared Baragwanath, the Brimley man, succumbed to his injuries two days after the incident. But Linklater, who survived, was subsequently arrested for operating while intoxicated.

Her sentencing will be held on September 6th.
