Purchase of former orphanage complete

MARQUETTE — Community Action Alger-Marquette (CAAM), in partnership with Home Renewal Systems, LLC has closed on purchase of the former Holy Family Orphanage.

CAAM Board Chairman Bradley N. Cory signed the agency Shareholder Consent Resolution paving the way for closing to take place June 7th, 2016. The title will be filed with Marquette County this week with abatement beginning in earnest next week. A ground-breaking is planned for later this summer following removal of hazardous materials including asbestos and lead paint. Tours will be offered at that time.

Meanwhile, the site will be controlled and under surveillance with access prohibited to those authorized and working on the project.
