MANISTIQUE — The Manistique River will continue to be cleaned through a 3.7 million dollar award from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. U.S. Senators Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow announced today that the river will continue to be cleaned of contaminated sentiment.

The Manistique River has had contaminated waste in it since 1987 due to industrialization in the area. The goal of the project is to reduce PCB levels and make the river no longer an area of concern.
