One year probation given in drug case

MARQUETTE — A 33-year-old man facing charges of resisting or obstructing a police officer has been sentenced in Marquette County Circuit Court.

Lee Kukla of National Mine was charged with resisting or obstructing a police officer along with an amended charge of possession of a controlled substance non-narcotic.

Kukla was sentenced to 33 days in jail with credit for 33 days served. Along with fines and fees, he will have one year of probation.

In February, Ishpeming Township Police observed a suspicious person in the Snyder’s Drug Store parking lot. After the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office authorized the charges from the investigation, Kukla was taken into custody without incident.
