MARQUETTE — Construction of a new hotel in downtown Marquette continues to make progress.

The Stay Bridge Hotel is being built at the corner of Washington and Lincoln. Construction workers are currently working on framing the roof.

That’s scheduled to be done by the end of the month. Officials hope to have the hotel and the new Upper Peninsula Health Plan building constructed sometime this fall.

“The UPHP Building is running a little bit behind from the hotel,” said project manager Peter Dupuis. “We’re trying to finish both of them up in the month of September. We’re confident we can pull it off and with a little help from Mother Nature we’ll be fine.”

Miron Construction Company out of Wisconsin is in charge of constructing both buildings. They are using U.P. construction workers in the building process.
